Friday’s concert was frickin’ awesome!!!
This was my first time being in an Infected Mushroom concert. I have savored the pleasure for the band’s NYC Webster hall concert to catch up on what I’ve been missing so far. So many people (sweaty people) dancing and jumping around, crazed with rhythm and electric guitar. There were a bunch of us going together. 11 people or so, trying to stick together with no success, and who cares? We met again outside again after, only to share our lovely odor of cigarets and late night hunger (for pizza). I just wanted chocolate…
Infected Mushroom is an Israeli trance/ electronic/ psychedelic band. It started out when two talented musicians, Amit Duvdevani and Erez Eisen, first began playing together in 1996, calling themselves Shidapu & Duvdev, which later on changed to Infected Mushroom. In 1999 the duo started working on their first album, The Gathering, which was later on released for the Israeli audience to enjoy. In 2013-14 Infected Mushroom released a three vol. album called Friends on Mushroom under Dim Mak Records. They also appeared to be working with Lady Gaga as her production team on her studio album ARTPOP after one of the songs was leaked to the public.
The line outside was ridiculous. So long… and smoky. Lucky for us we “early birded” and got in quickly in the advanced line. The concert began at 12:30 am sharp (kudos for the punctuality). Electric lights went on and everybody was already pumped up by the warm out band. I had no idea who they were, as we decided to skip them and show up later. I was pretty tired, but I new that once Infected started playing I’ll be fatigue free and dancing like crazy, which was exactly what happened. I was dancing and jumping, jumping and hitting people accidentally, stepping on toes, and who gives a shit? I was really proud of myself for making it to midnight. I was long overdue with my sleep hours, and last time I checked, I was not 16 anymore. I grabbed a beer, which seemed impossible to drink in that crowded room, but again, who cares? I was drunk with music. After an hour and a half or so I began winding down and took a rest on the bar. Saw my girlfriends doing the same thing while the guys were still rockin’ it. That’s it, we just couldn’t do it anymore.
I felt so proud being an Israeli that night. I felt proud of my country and the talented people in it. It’s us. I was home sick, and couldn’t wait telling everybody about the concert. It was mad! I needed that.
